El colchón de la cama en qué dormí era muy malo. Mucho mejor era el de la cama de matrimonio.

The location was central but quiet. The room was basic but I would have been happy with it if I had paid hostel prices.

Usually you get some degree of hospitality--friendly greetings, maybe some offer of maps or sightseeing advice. That definitely didn't happen here. The staff does not speak English or Spanish, which is fine, but they made very little effort to communicate (ie, sometimes not responding to "bom dia" or "olá"). Worse, they double charged me for the room and didn't try to work out the issue at all. They just texted me that I had not been double charged, when it was clear that I had. The wifi didn't work at all for four days, which would be fine if they didn't advertise wifi as one of the benefits. They are upfront about the unstable electricity on the island, but during a power outage I realized that most of the hotels had their own generators and this one did not, leaving us to sleep without a fan in 30+ degrees. The communication might be better for Brazilians than for foreigners, as I see searching these reviews by date that I was not the only foreign visitor to get an unexpected charge. Overall, this was one of my most disappointing travel experiences. With so many hotels on the island, you could do better.

Despite the high price, our stay at Porto Abraao Pousada was disappointing. While the reception staff were helpful, the overall service did not meet expectations. The breakfast was very poor. Although it starts at 8:00 am, by 8:15 there was almost nothing left, and the breakfast area was not clean. The breakfast team in particular was not very welcoming or supportive. Considering the cost, the value received was very low. At this price point, you expect much better service, cleanliness, and hospitality.

Owner charged extra USD$45 on my credit card. Unknown why. WiFi not working in room only lobby
