The Factor's Inn & Factor's Cottage

La chambre confortable , spacieuse , le lit immense

Un peu trop proche de la route , on entend bien les voitures le matin

Comfortable bed and pillows. TV was OK. Room was warm enough.

Decor and fittings were tired and in need of refurbishment - e.g. bath plug mechanism was really stiff and would be almost impossible for someone weak to operate. Wallpaper was starting to curl at the corners in places. Table under the TV was really wobbly. One window didn't stay open - flopped shut. Power socket behind bedside cupboard was loose from the wall and plugs were loose in it - i.e. tending to fall out. Questionable whether it was safe. All this meant we thought value for money was very poor.

Het was niet mogelijk te ontbijten op deze locatie. Bij het inchecken moest je de sleutel in het hotel in het kasteel ophalen, dat kostte even moeite.

The room itself was comfortable and roomy.

It was billed as the Factor's Inn & Cottage. It turns out the Cottage hasn't been used for client accommodation for 2 yrs; now used for staff. There is a notice on the Cottage telling you to get the key from the Castle. There is no such notice on the Inn (see later). I was asked by reception for ID before being handed the key. Never had this elsewhere. We had an amiable conversation about '1984' and prevailing UK legislation & civil liberties. The Inn is called a Pub. It isn't. It is a relatively expensive restaurant (around £40 pp for a main course, £18 for a cheese course!) and was fully booked on our visit. We booked ourselves into the Ben Nevis Inn which was great value but was a considerable drive away. If you wanted to eat at the Castle it would put you back £145 pp and gents would have to wear a jacket & tie. There is no on-site personnel, except for the restaurant staff in the "Inn"who have nothing to do with the accommodation upstairs. The key had to be fetched from the Castle Hotel which was a 15 minute walk away. We had a car so that wasn't a problem but would have been on foot, dark and raining. The heating wasn't turned on so the room became chilly in the evening. The bathroom towel rail did work fortunately. The toilet seat was loose.

Large room with an extremely comfortable large bed. Tea/coffee making facilities. Nice towels. In the grounds of the castle which are beautiful. Ideally situated for Fort William. We also ate there in the evening which was again very good. Free parking and we were able to leav3 1 car there for the day.

On arrival could have been clearer that check in was at the castle.

Ottima posizione molto tranquilla e comoda per raggiungere Fort William e le varie mete dei dintorni Bellissimo Inverlochy Castle dove si fa il check-in La nostra camera per tre persone era dotata di due bagni. Buona la pulizia In conclusione struttura consigliata.

Un po' di cattivo odore nei bagni

The accommodation smelt of burnt wood. It was located above the pub. This wasn't very clear at the time of booking. There was no breakfast or evening meal available in the pub. It is just a drinking venue. Only breakfast available was at the castle at a cost of £38 per person. So we went to Costa in fort william for a breakfast wrap. Fort William town centre is full of tourists. Waiting time for an evening meal was 30-45 mins. Eventually we found a lovely Thai Indian restaurant with good food and service.

Unfriendly lady behind the bar at the pub below the accommodation, advised me there was no evening meal or breakfast facilities there Giving the impression they didn't like people staying in those rooms above. The rooms were very old fashioned in need of an update. There was no chair to sit on in the room.
