The Crown & Anchor

A basic but adequate room over a lovely pub. Breakfast not included but there is 25% off for residents. Location is excellent for most places in the city. It's surprisingly not noisy too. Nice helpful staff. Tea and coffee making stuff is provided.

The bathroom on the top floor could do with a little TLC; the shampoo/gel holder is about to fall off the wall and the door lock doesn't look as secure as it could do. Minor stuff really.

Very friendly and informative staff. Instructions for accessing via door with code after hours were straightforward. Bed was comfortable, fan in room was appreciated in the heat. Great location for city centre.

Shower pressure wasn't great. Not awful, but a bit weak. 1 bathroom on the floor to be shared amongst maybe 5 rooms approx, so you may have to be patient. Not a fault - it is above a pub in the city centre after all - but be warned to expect the noises that come with this location. e.g. the sound of a large number of bottles smashing before 8am on a Monday morning, as they were presumably tipped into a truck to be taken away. I was already awake, and therefore unbothered, but worth pointing out.

Value for money. Door was quite sound-proof, which is nice since it's above a pub :).

There was no toilet the room was very basic poor decorative state , shower had mould and previous guest left sbower gels so not clean

not done breakfast i think its weekends, room ok beds nice comfy clean ,staff very helpful make you feel at home ,welcome including customers,,,,very freindly place, northern quarter, just block behind piccadilly,,2 mins walk if not disabled,,,,let me check in early think i did 12 ish,,,perfect for city on doorstep,,,,this is original old building with character,,,,helped me a lot with minimum stairs ,this is a proper footy pub atmosphere eletric like been at stadium,,this is my through world cup ,looking forward today england should be brill going on last night, 22/06/2026,,,,,expect to be very loud ish ,but im here thru world cup and too hot outside,and thank them for the fan,thankyou to all staff ,,hope this helps.

stairs but if you can manage like house stairs you will be fine ,they will put you on 1st floor if possible

Toilets were a mess communal toilet but our own shower was weird

The condition of the room and especially the shared toilet was what I can only describe as a hostel not a highly priced establishment. We were there for the Take That concert. granted the time period would call for a higher price.But at £338 for 2 nights the conditions were not by any means a reflection of the price The location was the redeeming feature as it was a perfect spot from Victoria Station and also to the Etihad Stadium

Pleasant staff, clean, nearest shower not working but another good one was close by. Kind staff member gave me some of her own decaff tea bags.
