Kokonoe Machiya

The staff was amazing. Great tips for sightseeing and restaurants! Kyoto antique house but renovated inside!

My first stay was so wonderful that I had to come back! I cannot recommend Kokonoe Machiya and its amazing host, Toni enough!! Thank you, thank you and I hope to be back again!

That was my little treat during my trip and it was amazing. The house has been restored as new but keeps its traditional soul you feel like going back on time in the Edo period. The owners were so kind, patient and welcoming that I felt like home in Japan. The private room is impeccable with a touch of modernity. I wish to come back and stay longer for more discussion and sake! Arigato !

Toni and his wife are very kind and very available to answer all our questions. They know very well Kyoto, and we had a very great journey in Kyoto thanks to them. This machiya is amazing ! Our room was nice and cosy.

We recommand to avoid having large suitecases.

Great location, cozy neighbourhood and very close to Nijō and well connected with public transportation.

I spend 4 nights there and Toni is one of the best hosts I've ever met! He put so much love in this place to make it in a traditional style :) This house has everything you need and even more.

What a beautiful, warm and welcoming place to rest and feel at home! I loved staying here and didn’t want to leave. The bunk beds are thoughtfully constructed with shelves and organization for your things. Everything was spotless and the common room very comfortable. Wonderful place, wonderful people :)
