Je regrette que les hôtes ne vivent pas sur place: ce serait plus convivial encore. Un détail: il n'y a pas d'espace pour mettre bagages dans les dortoirs. Et le matelas n'arrive pas au niveau du bord du lit: il faut donc enjamber pour en sortir.

오래된 교토의 집에서 묵을 수 있는 기회여서 굉장히 좋았습니다. 인원대비 샤워시설도 충분해서 밀리는 일이 없었구요. 위치가 현지인들 거주지역이라서 새로운 교토를 보기에 굉장히 좋습니다.

Super friendly guy running the place! Pleasant living space and bathrooms were very nice. Slept comfortably.

Kitchen is a bit small for a long term stay but I was only there one night so no issues here. Must be able to climb up steep steps.

The guesthouse is relatively close to Kinkaku-ji and Arashiyama, but quite far from autumn foliage viewing spots and Kiyomizu-dera, requiring about a 30-minute drive. The accommodation and rooms were generally quite nice, with new facilities. However, the owner seemed very protective of his old house, so he had many rules and restrictions. For example, he discouraged eating in the room and suggested I eat in the common area. Even after I bought dinner, he placed my food in the common area, expecting me to eat there. It felt like I was doing something wrong by eating in the room. He also strongly recommended the nearby public bathhouse, suggesting everyone shower there, giving the impression that he was very concerned about guests using electricity and water. Overall, the experience felt like visiting someone's home, but I was there as a tourist, not to stay overnight, so I probably wouldn't consider it again. 民宿離金閣寺和嵐山比較近 但是距離賞楓景點和清水寺都比較遠，大概要坐車30分鐘左右。 住宿環境和房間整體算不錯，設備都很新。但是主人似乎很珍惜他的老房子，所以規定很多，有很多事情不能做，例如他不建議在房間內吃東西，建議我到公共空間用餐。甚至我買了晚餐，他也自己把我的食物放到了公共空間，希望我在那邊用餐，感覺好像我在房間吃東西的話,有一種做錯事的感覺。以及他也強力推薦附近有公共澡堂，建議大家到那邊洗澡會，給你一種，他好像很怕客人用電用水的感覺。整體住宿體驗，感覺像是到別人家裡作客，但是我是來旅遊的，不是來借住的，所以下次可能不會再考慮。

It's a very lovely place to stay, a traditional house with modern technologies. The owner, Toni, is a wonderful person. He is very friendly, cheerful and helpful. If you want to experience living in a traditional house and sleeping on a futon, this place is for you. I enjoyed my stay. Thank you a lot!

The house itself is amazing, really well equipped and situated... But the true highlight is the owners. They're both incredibly warm, welcoming, helpful people with a genuine sense of hospitality. My stay has been made so much better thanks to their presence; aside from the fact that they're genuinely a joy to be around, they are a well of good advice about the city and its sights... And they won't leave you hanging if you encounter any difficulty. On the last night of my stay, I got myself in a situation where my rental bike got stuck in a closed parking lot; they offered to go and return it for me in the morning so that I wouldn't have to worry about it before leaving. They really did me a solid there! So, yeah, if you want to have the opportunity to interact with people who have a true sense of hospitality and community and are looking to hear about the city from the perspective of people who live there, you cannot go wrong with Kokonoe Michiya. Plus, it's close to what turned out to be my favorite part of the city; the northernmost areas.
