The property is both beautiful and rugged. I didn’t know all the details before I arrived, but was really happy to leave my car down the trail, hike up to my cabin with what I needed, and enjoy the peace, and the beautiful view. It’s like “glamping,” as there’s no TV or WiFi, but the bathroom and shower are clean and great, the little ea station is fully stocked, and there’s everything you’d need or want to enjoy the time there.

The only thing that didn’t really work as well as intended was the bathroom sink. I think the layout of the bathroom required a sink that would fit the dimensions, but it ended up not being big enough or deep enough to really function well as a bathroom sink. That’s it!

The little cabins were great and the communal kitchen was a nice place to meet people. I was even able to do some laundry there. Our little cabin was very clean. The host family was delightful. So welcoming and kind. There was a mix up with my billing but it was sorted easily and right away. The bathroom sink was a bit funny in its proportions so water got all over the bathroom floor. We did have 2 adults and one child in the little cabin so it was a bit cramped but it worked for us as a launch for Abel Tasman. We ate and explored in downtown Nelson which was less than 15 min away. It was quiet and secluded but still close to town. Great vibe!

You have to hike up the hill to your cabin but they are nice enough to bring a little cart to get luggage up and down and there is a toilet in the cabin so it works. You just don't want to forget anything you need in the car. This was the place we ran into the worst sand flies!

Beautiful setting in the NZ bush. Quiet neighbourhood.

Great quiet rural location about 15 minutes drive from Nelson centre. We stayed in the Korimako cabin, at the top of the slope. It was quite a tough walk up the hill from the shared kitchen area (for our ageing legs, at least), but worth it for the views and tranquility.

We found the ladder up to the bed a bit precarious, particularly in the middle of the night if nature called.
