Hotel Restaurant Escher

Very nice and helpful people at the front desk. Beautiful view from the room. Clean and tide up room. Perfect location. Plus: great restaurant! Really!! You should try it! Highly recommended!!

We stayed at the Hotel Escher for one Saturday night in early January based on the recommendations here. We liked the hotel just fine -- clean, centrally located, and a superb breakfast -- but were a bit surprised at the price -- CHF 228 (including parking) for one night for the three of us (me, my wife and 8-year-old son). When I questioned the owner about how the price was determined, he hemmed and hawed and basically said that it was up to his discretion. I think the fact that we were staying for just one night (and a Saturday at that) caused him to extract as much from us as he thought he could. Unfortunately, we didn't have the time or energy to shop around, but I would strongly recommend doing so first before agreeing to whatever price the owner of Escher may give you. We weren't convinced that what we got here was worth what we paid.

Before booking Hotel Escher, we looked at Hotel Croix Federale, and Hotel Viktoria. After our stay at Escher and seeing the other 2 places, we are very happy that we picked Hotel Escher...not only the best value, but also more charm and the owners are very nice! We were in rooms # 24 and # 26: one room was on the small side but the other one spacious; they both have gorgeous views of the village's church and the majestic mountains. The rooms and bathrooms are practical, comfortable and clean. The breakfast is excellent! The hotel is centrally located, just a couple of minutes walk from the Lindner Alpentherme and about 5mn walk from the bigger, public Burgerbad. The restaurant at the hotel was closed during low season but we had good dinners at "Vieux Valais" (nice onions cheese fondue) which is right across the street and at the restaurant of "Croix-Federale" (wonderful meats on hot slates). Hotel Escher is a GREAT find in Leukerbad, we'll be back!

Our stay at the Hotel Escher in Leukerbad, Switzerland was lovely. The rooms were clean and we had a great view of the town and the mountains. It is conveniently located near the Alpentherme public thermal baths. We had paid for half-board and their 5-course dinner was absolutely fantastic. The soup and salad courses were so fresh and delicious. The main courses were also very tasty. Breakfast in the morning was also great. The food service was terrific and the hotel employees were also very cordial and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel for it's good price, service and delicious meals. If you enjoy a typical Swiss family hotel this is the hotel for you.
