Fantastic location with a beautiful view right on the harbour. Everyone was exceptionally kind and friendly. The suite was cozy and very clean with all the extras you need to rest while travelling. Great restaurant on site as well.

Dinner was very good, one of the better on Cape Breton, staff were very nice! Needs a little paint refresh maybe, but clean and comfortable, we were very happy to stay there and would stay again. EV charger close by too!

The shower was actually quite good, with good pressure and heat. It was clean! The lighthouse suite is disability accessible, so the shower is large, which was nice even though we didn’t need it.

This was a very disappointing stay. We came before the season in Cape Breton really gets started, but nowhere did we have such a bad experience. Upon arrival, the woman who handed us keys expressed frustration to me about being told by her boss to stay back for another 15 minutes or so to check in my party. There was evidently another party coming that day as well, who had not yet arrived when I checked in. I wonder how their check-in went. We got the keys and headed downstairs to the lighthouse suite. The setting on the boardwalk overlooking the bay/harbour and the Chéticamp island is lovely. The door to the suite is not. Weathered and salted, it’s a struggle to open until you get the trick. The window is so salty that only 50% of it can be viewed through. This was a troubling first sign of cleanliness problems. The interior is spacious at least. The bed is perfectly comfortable, although the pillows are useless. I won’t blame Auberge here as that is a standard hotel issue. The WiFi is essentially unusable. On the first day, I tested the speed and averaged about 1 Mbps. This would vary from a blazing 2 Mbps in the corner of the bedroom to 0.5 Mbps in the bathroom and the living room. Unusable. We were SO fortunate on day 2 that the WiFi could sustain that 2 Mbps throughout the suite. The worst of everything though was the floors. They look clean on arrival, almost shiny. That’s because there’s a foul film of oil covering them. I took my shoes off and walked around in socks. The flooring felt strange through the socks, so I looked at the bottom of them and they were black and covered in hair that was not our own. We wore shoes inside the rest of the trip. All of these issues may sound justifiable for a certain price. I guarantee you that acceptable price is lower than we paid. This stay was in mid-April. Most hotels/lodgings in Chéticamp had not yet opened for the season.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating, gave us recommendations for things to do and places to eat to ensure we had a good stay!
