Pinewood Guesthouse

We liked the calm, the ripe blueberries in the forest outside our private door; we loved the fact that Tiina has designed and built an entirely eco-friendly home with clay floors, straw bale walls and heated by — wait for it — the heat given off by the muck of her beautiful horses in the stable just down the driveway. We loved walking along the trails, the biking on the very safe highway and the lake that we swam in -- we had the lake to ourselves! -- a 10-minute bike ride away. We loved being in the wood-fired sauna, its benches made from aspen cut on the property, watching the sun set through the window. We played with dogs, petted horses and baked a blueberry pie. We loved our hosts, Tiina and her daughter Viivi. Who are as warm as Finns can be.

We really enjoyed our relaxing stay here. A beautiful house with impeccable interior design and lovely, attentive hosts. Our only regret is not staying even longer.

Very nice guesthouse close to Lahti. Superb sauna and comfortable bed! Good for bike and/or triathlon vacation. Very nice and accommodating host.
