Excellent quality of food and service. Location could not have been better.

A very warm welcome by the hosts. So helpful with information regarding a specific walk we wanted to do. Evening meals were lovely and good value. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room a bonus. Heating was on making a warm and very relaxing hotel. Accommodating with other requests we had. Overall a very nice visit with a hearty breakfast too.

There was nothing not to like.

Setting is exceptional. Staff were friendly and efficient. Food was good solid British pub grub, good range of beers. Rooms comfortable and clean. The location is a magnet for outdoorsy people including mountaineers, campers, walkers, runners cyclists etc. and there are a number of options for staying over. I've used the bunkhouse before which is great value for money, we stayed B & B this time which was more comfortable but also more expensive as you'd expect.

Nothing but visitors should be aware this is one of those pubs with a lot of history so the decor shows its age somewhat. All facilities work well though and the rooms are clean and functional.

The room and bathroom where on the small side could have done with more room to relax.
