The George Inn

The staff were really great. Nice room, good food, both for evening meals and breakfast, although not a lot of choice if you only want continental style breakfast.

As cyclists, there were no facilities for secure storage. We were offered the bar/dining room as overnight storage, but with a tandem, it was rather impractical. I had asked about this when making the booking, but didn’t receive a reply! Metal staircase at rear of property was somewhat difficult to negotiate with a dodgy hip …. bedrooms on first floor. Stairs within building were ok.

Everything about The George at Castleton Derbyshire was very good from arriving the staff were helpful and polite and wasted no time showing us to our room we was in room 5 which was faultless.Massive super king-size bed comfy mattress and lovely pillows I slept well and it had great views towards winnits Pass..We enjoyed our evening meal in the most delightful restaurant of The George the old world charm was right up our street . Our Breakfast the next day did not disappoint tasty and filling plenty of choice and set you up for the day. We have now been twice and wil definitely be returning. IF you want a a overnight stay like myself or longer at a place with old world charm.friendly staff where nothing is too much trouble for there customers then choose The GEORGE at Castleton Derbyshire Peak District.

I have to say there wasn't anything I didn't like.

We had a splendid weekend (3 nights) in this clearly much loved 16th century pub in a lovely location in the centre of Castleton. The room was comfortable and well equipped with a large double bed. Breakfasts were good and filling. We had three other meals - one was a Sunday lunch. They offered 5 different cask conditioned beers; I sampled the "two local and one Yorkshire" which were in excellent condition. Finally, all the people working there were very nice and helpful. I have no doubt we will stay there again.

Lovely pub Great staff Good food, comfortable and clean rooms

It was one of the better very small inns in the countryside that we stayed at. The bed was large and comfortable. The rooms are above a pub so some noise will leak through and some noise from the outside picnic tables can also be heard. We were there when it was cool so nobody was outside once the sun started down and the temperature dropped. The staff is great, we were leaving early in the morning before breakfast and they gave us some food to put in our fridge for the morning. The stairs are a bit narrow for us Americans and our larger luggage, the outside, back steps were easier to use when we left. There is onsite parking in the rear which is nice. We were there on a Sunday and had the Sunday Roast which was very large, good and filling. If you need a place to stay in Castleton, I would highly recommend it.

The stairs were a bit tight, and getting into the back parking area was a bit of a tight squeeze for the car.
