The Umah Prahu

Breakfast was decent. The rooms were pleasant with it being right next to the beach. Staff were friendly.

1. Lots of mosquitoes and ants. 2. No safety in the front since the kids can just fall off into the beach.

This stay is very charming with exterior boat like rooms. It is beach front. Comfortable bed and pillows. The breakfast was very tasty (I got an omelette with two slices of toast, fruit and coffee), included when paid for the breakfast option. There is a great Mexican restaurant next door as well as a coffee shop and mini market across the street. We rented motorcycles so it was easy to go to all spots. Staff is wonderful.

Hidden behind a little gate on Cemara Beach sits this little oasis. Such a lovely energy, for a peaceful stay. Only four bungalows shaped like boats all facing the sea. Ketut and Putu are such kind and helpful hosts. They will literally drop everything to respond to a request. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. I asked Ketut where I could get a coconut and he climbed a tree and got me one! The bungalows are spacious, with the most comfortable bed I've slept in for ages, with lots of big fluffy pillows. Gardens are well maintained and the view is picture perfect. One review said you can't swim here, that's not true - but expect lots of coral - it's an island. Coffee across the road at Penida Bakery is the best I've had for ages (Italian coffee machine no less). Many little pathways in the area lead to gorgeous restaurants overlooking the ocean. It's been fun to explore!

There is a nice little table and stools on the deck, a bit hard to relax on, a comfy chair would be nice if you need to do some work or read a book - but there is seating and lounges down by the waters edge, And I'm not fond of aircon, especially through the day - a fan would be nice (even on the deck). However Ketut helped me out immediately and brought me a pedestal fan. which was lovely. These are more suggestions than what I didn't like. Aside from that I think this place is the best. As far as people not liking music from neighbours, it's not loud, you can hear it until about 10pm but it's more quiet background music. If it was a problem, you wouldn't hear it with the door closed and air con on. I quite enjoyed it.

Young girl at reception very friendly and helpful. Seems very hardworking. Comfy beds. Decent AC. Enough hot water. Nice location close to local amenities. Seafront location. Onsite scooter rental. Water bottles were given once then you can fill the water from water dispenser kept in reception area.

Place needs desperately upgrading. The place is in the prime position but looks very out dated. Garden and front patio needs updating, beach lounger and cushions are grubby. Bathroom fittings are falling apart and shower handle broke off during our stay. Owner did send someone straightaway to fix and he seems to fixed it all but it wasnt. I dont know how water pump works but none of the cottage that night (we had 3 cottages) had any water in bathroom throughout whole night. Imagine not using toilet all nights and we had 2 children as well. It was so hard to explain to owner and it was late at night so we gave up and next morning he send the person again to fix and he replaced the whole shower fittings. I can understand some time things happens and we have no control over it but the owner send me a whatsapp message saying generally they charge guests for the damage but they are not charging us due to inconvenience caused. That is totally unacceptable. The bathroom fittings are already in derelict condition that if you touch it might fell off and you want to blame that on your guests!!! Unbelievable. When we checked in all the room had unbearable smell of damp and even the duvet had big marks of damp water. We assume it is due to heavy rain so thought not to make a big issue out of it. We know Nusa Penida is not connected to mainland and things may be little dearer on that part of the Bali. Its shame such a lovely place Umah Prahu is just it needs TLC. Ok for 1 or 2 night stay but not more.
