Masseria Monte Pizzi

Nadia and her family have created an ideal place for people who enjoy a lovely rural retreat combined with great food. To say the food is excellent is only half the story. Nadia is passionate about cooking truly traditional local food, using the best of ingredients, presented with a modern, professional yet unfussy approach. You won't find this in an urban, fine dining establishment. Her choice of wines is also top rate, again the local aspect is dominant. Thanks to Nadia I have tasted some really good Molise red wines from the Tintilia grape - hard to get in the UK (though not impossible). Molise isn't a major wine producing area but these wines should be better known and would give many famous wines from the north and south of Italy a run for their money - they are distinctive and, while all are full-bodied, they range from the "heavy duty" to the more delicate without any compromise on quality. Speaking of money, I should add finally that accommodation, food and drink are all very reasonably priced at the Masseria. It's the third time we have stayed here - thanks again Nadia and family for a great holiday.
