Little Cottage

The room is nice and very spacious, and there's a large terrace in front of the room with a table. It feels like your own little apartment. The bed is big and VERY comfortable. (It's two singles pushed together.) It was really quiet and I slept well. The location is far enough away from the downtown chaos to be quiet, but close enough to easily walk to the restaurants, shops, etc. The washroom is also spacious and the water pressure is really good. There's hot water which is necessary in Ella. The hosts are very kind!

This place is really good and I felt comfortable there for the most part, but the washroom needs more cleaning. The toilet and sink were clean, but it looks like the wall tiles could use a good scrub. If the washroom were more thoroughly cleaned, I think the place would feel MUCH better overall. This was a little bit disappointing, but it can easily be fixed. There is also a damp smell and feel in the room, but this is probably unavoidable in Ella....it rains A LOT! (Especially in the rainy season!)

Very comfortable homestay. Very well located just outside the central part of Ella on a small local street, which is good is you want to sleep well. Having spent a few days in Ella, I strongly recommend avoiding residing near the "downtown" core (which is literally 3 streets) because it is very noisy. Stay off the main streets, in that sense The Little Cottage is perfect. The room is spacious, bed comfy, staff very welcoming and helpful. And you have a very nice view on Ella Rock on the street. I would definitely go back.

The shower was nice and hot. The bed was comfy, the location is great - just a 5 minute walk into Ella.

I had booked for two nights but had to leave early as the property was not fit to stay in. I only stayed the first night because I had nowhere else to go. The property was very damp and wet. It has not been constructed properly to allow adequate ventilation. The bed sheets were completely wet, I understand it’s rainy season but you cannot just put wet bedding onto a bed, you need to pay for it to be machine dried. The property had a terrible damp/mould smell and the walls were so wet and damp the paint was coming off and it stained my bag. Everything we owned literally became wet just from being in the room overnight, including our clothes in our bags. We were told it was “normal” but we had stayed somewhere else in Ella 2 nights before this during the rain and that property had no damp issues. If the property can fix the ventilation issue or you stay during a period of pure sunshine and no rain it would be a really nice place to stay.

Solo female traveller. Perfect location, close enough to everything but peaceful. No view of the mountains but when you walk up the driveway its amazing, lovely outside deck with light which gives you another lovely space to enjoy. Very clean room, amazing hot shower, very comfortable bed and spaceous room. Helpful host, greeted me with a pot of hot tea. Had a breakfast and dinner cooked by host both lovely and even did some laundry at very reasonable costs for all, yes limited English but my Sri Lankan is non existant too - family helped out and managed to get by really well. Definately a great stay and ticked every box for me as was out and about but close enough to pop back to accomodation and go again with any effort. A great stay.

There is no light in the road to get there

Cozy location surrounded by greenery yet within easy walking distance to the nine arches bridge and downtown. I recommend it.

Rough access road that allows tuktuk and cars to arrive in a difficult way. Our tuktuk had to stop on the main road.

Nice big towels to add to review on our previous night. We liked it so much we stayed a 2nd night. The owner kindly brought us hot water and cups in the morning so we could make a cup of tea.

Just missed having a kettle in the room.

Such comfy beds and a memory foam pillow. Beautifully stylish mosquito net. Lovely shower and hot! Superb location, very quiet, wonderful bird song in the morning but an easy walk into town. Lovely to be served coffee and cake on arrival.

A kettle in the room would have made the stay even more perfect.
