Swan River Inn

We were in downtown location, great location for wandering the town, food options and swimming off the public dock as there no pool. Most rooms have balcony or outdoor space. Theme rooms are cute. Beds comfortable, rooms clean, lots of towels.

This downtown location is showing its wear. Stayed in Arabian Nights room, friends stayed downstairs in French Country room. Our shower was broken, backup shower was just OK, didn't use jetted tub. No bathroom door, just a privacy screen. Balcony was great, overlooking the lake but furniture was rusted so not great for outdoor dining, no outdoor space for French room. No restaurant on site, coffee maker in room had issues. Loved the ambience, and Beau the manager was wonderful but the place needs a bit of upgrading.

Great location. Actual room…once you got there…was rather amazing. Interesting art and furnishings. The deck was great, the VIEW terrific…and the flowers were gorgeous and so well tended that they were flourishing even through the very hot weather we’ve been having here in Montana.

There are serious issues for access. To access the Penthouse Suite you have to climb a very dangerous circular stair up 2+ floors and then access the next very steep set of stairs to the deck access to the room. You can access from the Lobby and skip the circular stair part of the access…but only during business hours…10-9 so morning or evening access is out. There is a 2nd way to avoid the circular stair…around the back of the building (over a unpaved gravel area) and then through a dark hallway to a door/code (light turns on AFTER you input the code and open the door) that leads to a dirty and steep stairway to the deck that leads the last very steep stairway to the room’s deck. Oddly this also requires that the deck serves another room and when we came in after the play about 10…we surprised another guest on what he thought was his private deck. So the access is unacceptable and certainly needs to be addressed…before someone is injured.

A little later check out time would be nice.
