Black Beach House

The location and the host. Great snorkeling just by the hotel. Ingrid was very helpful, she gave me a tour of the village after arrival and checked in on me during the stay to make sure I had everything i needed. Floreana is a beautiful island, where you can enjoy the nature. Its quiet and peaceful!

The location is amazing, from the house I saw sealions, penguins, lizards and many birds. Junior, who welcomed me, was very warm and helpful. I loved the hammocks looking out to sea.

It was hard to feel truly welcome. It was lacking many of the facilities I've grown used to in accomodation Ecuador (that cost a lot less). For example: - there was no drinking water provided and no information about where to get some from - there were no extra blankets for the chilly September nights - there were signs everywhere telling you not to bring sand into the house, but no doormat to wipe your feet and no brush to collect the sand you do bring in - there were many signs telling you not to waste electricity and water, which, as someone who loves the environment, felt quite patronising, unwelcoming and unnecessary - there was no information about how or where to get food - I was given no information to help me get to Floreana, I booked two nights not knowing I wouldn't be able to make the first as I arrived on the plane too late to catch the ferry. This caused me a lot of anxiety in the lead-up to the trip, and even though I asked Ingrid for help, I wasn't given any clear answer about what would happen. - the booking led me to believe I would have the house to myself but infact I was sharing with a (very nice) couple. It would have been nice to know this in advance. - All in all, for a room and very little else, the price I paid ($44) seems very expensive indeed, even by Galapagos standards.
