Reggae Guesthouse

Great location- only 10 min walk from Alona Beach. Quiet and calm, shaded area so rooms not too hot during the day. Friendly and helpful staff and Arnie the dog is the best! :)

Lots of ants came out the wall one evening, staff quickly sprayed the area and sorted it - it is a hut so a few are expected! Unfortunately we did have a rat in our roof, we saw it through the netting on the side. We could hear it running about a lot and in the walls, there were some holes underneath the beds and we think it might have came in one night due to some bite marks on a bag. Hopefully the staff can get this sorted for the next guests :)

Beware- MOSQUITOS!!! Also, numerous 🐁 or cockroach droppings. Stepped in it first morning and bathroom covered in them. They did change my room, but I already had the heebie jeebies by this point. Should have left but decided to give the new room a shot. New room didn't have any droppings but mosquitos were killin me.

It is near to a good restaurant.

Money went missing from our room. At 18:00 we returned after changing £125. We counted out 4500 php for my partner to get back to her UK flight, and left her purse in a small compartment of my bag. We went out between 19:30 and 23:00 and I noticed that my bags compartment was open. On checking the purse, 3000 php was missing. We went to the night guard and asked her to contact the day staff and police. She said she would contact the staff but had no load for the police. In the morning, the staff said they were not contacted. One wall of our room comprised two layers of rattan, and you could see day light through it. As such the AC could not cool down the room below 30 degrees so it was hard to sleep until 02:00 when it cooled down. Mosquitos. The room had lots of mosquitos due to the rattan and holes. Dirty. The rattan is old with insect cocoons, and rains dirt down on the beds. The toilet was not well cleaned, as used toilet tissue was on the shelf etc My partner checked very early as she did not feel safe.

What you see outside is a lot way better inside. The detached room offers utmost privacy, the ambiance is incredibly homey, and I had the best sleep for the time. The price is also excellent value, even cheapet than other places. I'll definitely return here if I have another chance in Bohol.
