Kaniere Pub

Lovely little room in a bar. Very comfy, very quiet. Staff was very nice. Would definitely go back without thinking about it.

Nothing it was awful

No aircon or even a fan, no Tv on the room. Beds were incredibly uncomfortable. Bar right next to the room and band started to play at 8pm and stopped at 11pm but the pub goers only left and quieted down at about 3am. Shared showers and kitchen. The shared lounge was taken up by people lying in the couch with their duvet covers. Room curtains not blackout and lights of the bar shining through the thin curtains. It was awfully

Great little hotel, excellent lounge & communal kitchen ( well stocked & spotlessly clean) communal showers also spotless. Would definitely stay again & highly recommend

Kaniere Hotel is a great little place just outside Hokitika. I found everyone there very friendly and helpful. I was only there one night, on my way north from the glaciers, but it was a delightful stop. The room was basic but clean and tidy, and the separate shower and bathroom area was the same. I ordered the Sunday evening roast and it was very good - lots of vegetables, excellent roast lamb and all nicely presented.

I can't think of any issues that stuck with me - for a basic, reasonably-priced hotel Kaniere meets the need very well!
