Good location, beside road and near train station. Description indicates that it has a restaurant, but this is now closed. However there are some eating places nearby, which were good. (we tried 3 of them). Breakfast was good, although I would have liked a better selection of meat. Stayed for 3 nights and received a travel pass for local area, which was great.

Wifi signal in our room, which was at end of corridor, was poor.

Affordable option in the Appenzell area to access key hikes (Hoher Kasten, Saxer Lücke, Schäfler, Ascher etc). Included breakfast was great and included bread rolls, spreads, ham and cheese, yoghurt, cereal, fruit and coffee. Whole place was very clean and lovely staff.

No grocery store in town and not many dinner options in the area - transited in to Appenzell each evening.

Clean and very nice room

Simple rooms (no frills), close to hiking area, clean and spacious. Bakery and restaurant onsite, although restaurant was closed. Great breakfast, and the staff made sure that my vegan friends had a good selection by asking in advance what they should offer for breakfast. Friendly and caring staff, they even warned us about possible noise from a large group booking arriving later that night and asked if we preferred a quieter room, which was very considerate of them.

The rooms were standard hotel white, there was little Swiss homely charm about them, but that was fine with me.

The hotel was a 5 min drive from Wasserauen which was ideal for hiking. The room we were staying in was a good size with comfortable beds. The shower was small but it had great water pressure. There was a nice restaurant across the road at the top of the hill I'd recommend called Hotel Restaurant Belvedere. The breakfast was included and it was very good!

Very nice, spacious, clean room. Very friendly and helpful staff. Even when my travel plans changed somewhat due to the weather, the owner was nothing but friendly and helpful. Maximum number of stars!
