The Darnley Arms

It was clean, easy to find and perfect for two nights

The only downside was at the bathroom light was automatic and took a long time to turn off, and the bathroom door didn’t shut properly so it was a struggle to block out the light at night

Nice clean and well decorated room, the only thing letting the accommodation down slightly was the rather manky mat outside the shower cubicle. The staff were all outstanding, all friendly, chatty and helpful. The pub is an absolute gem, exactly how a traditional boozer should be, and as for the grub, WOW ! We live on the coast, so know a thing or two about fresh fish n chips, but we've rarely had fish n chips as good as this pub serves. We were attending a heavy metal gig at St Margaret's church which is literally a 1 minute walk from the pub. If we're ever in need of accommodation in there area again , we'll definitely stay here. If your a fan of traditional boozers, The Darnley Arms is slightly out in the sticks but absolutely worth a visit.

None. The picture is quite deceptive. The facility is one spare room at a country side. You will have to pass through a local pub to access the facility. Waited for more than 10 minutes at the Pub's reception before the room manager showed up with just casual attention from the pub counter staff whose priority is the pub and not room service. The stair way to the room looked unkept. The environment is definitely not recommended for guests who seek privacy and quietness. The environment, reception and service were all turn off for me and had to turn leave the place to seek alternative accommodation.

No welcome sadly and a lack of warmth. Had to go looking for a staff member to obtain a key.
