Ojai Rancho Inn

The friendly atmosphere, the spa tub, the comfy beds, and bar by the pool and being able to reach anywhere downtown on the bike path!

Great location and cute vibes! The place is set up to be a bit artsy and attracts a specific crowd (although all are welcome and would enjoy this location~). The bar/backyard/communal area is really cute to hang out and relax in. They don't have a gym/workout area though :( It very much is an R&R type of inn. The Ojai Valley Trail (bike/walking trail) runs directly behind the inn and is awesome! It's just an 8ish min walk into downtown Ojai, lovely walk. Overall, I'd stay again if a bunch of my friends were also staying so we can get our rooms next to each other (there's only about 19 or so rooms on the property, all single leveled). Great for small groups. As a couple, I'd probably stay somewhere else.

My partner found the place really cute and had such an art/creative vibe to it - they really played into the "rancho" theme as well! The office served as a little gift store that sold a variety of items, including condoms and a vibrator LOL. We found that funny because the rooms themselves aren't that soundproof -- we literally could hear our neighbors having a conversation in their room. Rooms themselves were pretty clean and cute but does smell old (I think the property was built in the 50s) so I'd recommend bringing some air freshners or candles if the smells bothers you. Hard to air the smell out even though we kept our window open. We visited in the Spring and it still took some time for our A/C to cool the room down during the day, I can't imagine how it'd be in the Summer heat. The shower pressure was bonkers! Really good water pressure but if you have it on blast, expect your shower curtain to be flying everywhere and water spraying everywhere. The key is to find the right amount of water flow by playing around with the temperature knobs. Lastly...there is barely any lighting in this room. Maybe that's by design with their lighting system to create the ambience but it wasn't efficient at all for us. I find that homes/stays that focus on art/cute furniture do it at the expense of comfort/functionality. During the day, you can keep your window curtains open (but then it's not that private as the walkway is right in front and everyone can peer in) but in the evening, you're on your own. There is SOME light, but it doesn't really illuminate the place that well in the evening. Our bathroom had one light and it was above the sink - nowhere near the shower so you're basically showering in the dark. Luckily, we brought portable string lights that we hung from the shower curtain hooks that really helped out. Makes you curious what they don't want you to see in the shower...

The coffee in the lobby was very good and the location was excellent. It was quiet and a short walk or bike ride to town.

Ojai has gotten expensive!
