Restaurant Felsenburg

I have stayed 3 nights in September 2024. Looking at the past reviews, there were complaints about noise and staff. My bed was great. Yes, the floor was a bit squeaky and there is indeed road nearby but this can be easily fixed with earplugs. Washroom very small but does the job. Shower is amazing! Host was great. I told her I would be leaving earlier to go mountains and she had packed up my breakfast in the fridge. Very friendly Food was simple but high quality Location is great Oeschinnen lake gondola is just minutes away, and so is train ferry to Valais. As a bonus, you can sit and enjoy work of speed camera across a street, hehe :)

Review is for the hotel, but also there is restaurant downstairs. First two nights there was a waitress with long black hair, very kind and helpful. The last night however there was different waitress, the blonde with braids. As I walked in I immediately sensed the did not like me. The whole attitude was “eat and get out”. She would not give me a menu, so I just ordered what I remembered was there- half a liter of orange juice. And she brings 0.25, says we don’t serve half a liter. I’m saying - seriously? This is definitely in the menu and I have had it last two nights. She then brings me a second 0.25 with a squeak. Still no menu. I then ordered a fondue, it was good but then she charged me for 2xfondue. I ask why and she says normally it is because two people eat it. This made totally no sense. She then removed this second fondue from the invoice. In the end, would not even let me use credit card machine, would select currency and everything else on her own which was also weird. Could be cultural difference, but then- no one else did it in Switzerland like this. And I thought later- maybe I was wrong, but then receipt would be 1xfondue for double the price, would it not? At least by my American logic. Anyways, this was the only strange incident to otherwise excellent experience with this hotel.

The room was nice and clean, with a big, very comfortable bed. The facilities were clean and in a good state. The staff was super nice, helpful, and friendly. All in all, I would recommend it to a friend.

Nice and comfortable family hotel for a short stay close to Kandergrund / Oeschinen lake. Room in a charming cottage, with a restaurant.

The shower was not very easy to use. An air conditioning system would be very appreciate as the room is upstairs in a cottage (warm place).

Staff was super sweet

Bit pricy for small room next to highway...but in fairness price were on level with similar options.

Charming place, very pleasant and good atmosphere with a quality restaurant, very kind staff.

The bedroom was large, split into 2 single beds. As it's meant for 2 people, one of the duvet sets was taken away. Towels provided. The bedroom was close to the shower/Toilet room and shared with one other room.

No TV. You could hear people walking around as the building is old - if you are sensitive to noise, take some earplugs. There wasn't anyone visible to check me in when I arrived, had to wait until someone showed up at reception.
