The Middle Pub

the Hotel is a really nice old Hotel but don't expect to be able to actually use your room until drinks close. I had dozens of people just outside my window on the balcony drinking and talking.

Only good thing was the bar staff and the food was OK!

On arrival as our group arrived at different times and the accommodation under my name. A staff member gave room keys to the 1st to arrive, not me. My best mate went in to get keys just as I was unpacking and he came back out saying the Manager/owner abused him for getting keys and it not being myself who booked the accommodation and told him he should cancel the accommodation and go somewhere else. As I got there to check in he had left and the female staff member helped us out and took my details. I did not get to catch up with the owner, but if he is going to be that rude to his customers he can stick his accommodation where it fits. Even if he has had a bad day, it's no excuse to abuse your customers, especially if it was over his own staff giving a key out to someone not listed for the room. I expect an apology or we will never return to this accommodation or Town. Also the rooms where expensive for what you get, I booked way in advance and asked for rooms to the rear as I knew that had music & karaoke on Friday nights but our rooms were at the front, so was not happy with that either. The rooms were dusty and had rubbish under two of the beds, socks and drink bottles. Rooms are dark and dindgy and only 1 PowerPoint in a 3 bed room . Also the bathrooms are run down and dirty, with broken broken tiles and the floor was slimy. Only good thing was the bar staff and the food was OK

Some other guests partied all night & kept us awake.

The water was nice and hot in the shower and bathrooms were clean. Sheets were clean and of good quality.

No facilities that you would expect. No kettle, coffee or tea making facilities even though there is a bare unused room which could easily be converted into a guest lounge with communal tea and coffee making facilities. Rooms lacked useful furniture. The room that we were given did not have a window and a very dull globe for lighting. The bathrooms, whilst clean had nowhere to put your toiletries when you brushed your teeth, nowhere to hand your clean or dirty clothes while showering. The shower curtain even hang outside of the shower hob so that water splashed onto the floor. During the night when we stayed there were almighty crashes of doors slamming shut due to wind.

Location and very friendly and interesting. Excellent food
