"Somewhat unhappy with my night here"

5.0

I booked here two days before my arrival as a last-minute change to my schedule because of storm problems in the town I had originally chosen. It was some distance away from my planned route but I thought a night in a mountainside village would be rather nice. I was wrong !!! Apart from the church, whatever else there might be in Casillas was closed, including the hospedería’s restaurant – my main reason for my choosing it. My planned relaxed evening was therefore taken up by having to drive 8 kilometers down (and back up) the steep, narrow, winding mountain road to find somewhere to eat in Sotillo de la Adrada. I read the Booking.com reviews before making the reservation but think I must have ended up in a completely different place. I won’t embarrass the owner by including any photos in my review. Suffice it to say that I wasn’t happy. When I arrived I was able to choose one of two rooms, neither of which appealed to me. The location of the restaurant was explained - out of the front door, left and left again. It wasn’t made clear that it was actually down the alley next to the hospedería with the entrance in the left hand corner of a scruffy loading bay-type yard in the basement of the hospedería; and that it wasn’t open!! I had wandered into the village to try to find it and eventually asked some ladies where it was. They said it would be closed (which I took to mean that it was too early) but one of them kindly showed me where it was. Another guest was speaking to someone at the entrance to the restaurant who said that it wasn’t open “because of holidays”. He wasn’t happy to learn this and I said that I was also on holiday and had expected to have dinner there. Surprise, surprise, it was open in the morning for the inclusive breakfast. From the quality of the accommodation to the lack of expected dinner it wasn’t a happy experience. And, compared with others during my trip, it was far from being value for money.

"Casillas is a beautiful village to visit. But I would not recommend families to stay in Tia Maria."

5.0

Location of the village. Close access to beautiful hiking routes, green forests and other beautiful places to visit in the valley of Tietar.

The breakfast was poor. Only toasted bread with butter with jam and sponge cake. If you wanted olive oil, they bring. And then just orange juice and coffee. Everything served. You could not repeat or ask for more. Location is in the crossroad of all the business of the village. People returning home until 4 in the morning and cars passing by. The sound of the street is very strong and a problem if you are a light sleeper. So for 2 nights we booked the room, we didn't sleep.
