Location is beautiful, room was clean and nice.

Breakfast was much too basic with not enough options.

We loved the everything about our stay. Starting from the warm welcome, nice room with balcony for some extra space, the location, decent refreshing walking distance to the local train station so you can leave your car at the hotel and travel conveniently with public transport, and the postal car bus stop to Hoher Kasten is just in front of the hotel. And the food ! The dinner a la carte as well as the breakfast with various choice was just amazing perfect way to relax from a long day hike or start your hiking day. We could recommend this place to everyone visiting the wonderful mountains and nature in Appenzell.

Charmantes Hotel in toller Lage oberhalb Appenzell. Sehr nette Gastgeber, die Wünsche (Laden von E-Bikes) gleich erfüllen. Sehr gutes Restaurant. Imposant ist die Sammlung von Pfeffermühlen. Manche davon sind nur von zwei Personen bedienbar…

The hostess is very friendly and accommodating. Also the breakfast was laid out beautifully and everything was so good.

Samstag abend laute Disco im Dorf und landwirtschaftlicher Lärm.

the staff were extremely warm, kind and welcoming to us. the room was clean and comfortable, and we felt at home from the moment we checked in. the restaurant also serves delicious food. the hotel also kindly allowed us to store our baggage there overnight. highly recommend staying at this hotel!
