staff tried to make amends for the mistakes that had been made with our booking

our room which was booked and paid for on Booking.Com was re-let to someone else. We were warned of this a few days before we travelled and we were offered a chalet for additional money and we agreed to pay the balance when we arrived. The owner was apparently contacted and agreed this procedure with us - through the hotel direct and we were to pay half each of the additional £100. When we arrived we were told that our chalet had also been given away to someone else (a busy Bank holiday weekend). We were given the tiny room 9 at the top of the building 2nd floor whereas our original room booking was for room 2 on the first floor which was much bigger. We were not happy having spent over £80 on the way to the hotel for food we were going to cook in our self catering chalet including a fresh crab. The hotel manager and staff kindly stored this freezer bag of food for us in their large walk-in fridge to avoid all of it having to be thrown away. However we could not eat some of it. The fresh crab had to be thrown away. We were not happy with this mess up in our booking and would not want to stay with you again because of it.

Lovely room very clean nicely decorated all needs catered for but windows could do with a blind and found the room a little chilly possibly due to lack of double glazing

Location was not great

We have stayed at the Birdham 4 times now over the last few years and the service, food, and cleanliness have been great, nothing is to much trouble for the staff.

A miner observation is that in the rooms all showers are in the bath with no support hand rails most people particularly the elderly shower instead of using the bath , so a few rooms with walk in showers would be good and would only require the bath to be removed and a shower tray and cubicle plumbed in its place ,with a few small tiles to cover the bath removal . But this is still a great place to stay.

Bedroom was lovely, beds were very comfy

The bed was very comfortable, we were given a free drink on arrival and a discount on the excellent food in the restaurant.

The music from the bar below our room was audible until 11pm.

Lovely room. Very good coffee and tea facilities. Lovely meal in the evening with vouchers for a free drink and 15% off dinner

Very comfortable bed.
