Pension Weinhaus Unger

An unusual, almost quirky design to the building itself. Being on the side of a steep slope, the ground floor on one side was the first/second floor on the other. A spiral staircase to the full height is spectacular if not a little intimidating if you go right to the top and don't like looking down. A very good continental breakfast buffet selection was provided in a pleasant wood-panelled dining room. My bedroom furnishings were an eclectic mix but ultimately functional. The bathroom appeared recently refurbished and was clean and more than adequate. All rooms appear to open out onto a balcony, mine giving a view to the village/town and countryside beyond.

It was just a function of the timing of my visit, but being the end of the season the facility was rather quiet. Despite this impression, the dining room at breakfast was quite bustling. Again being the end of the season there was no option for an evening meal, but the host booked a table for me at a local inn only 650m walk away.

Not a lot, good water pressure in the shower and eventually plenty of hot water. A reasonably good selection for breakfast.

The whole place is very tired, the manager openly said he didn't want to be there. There was no blind on my bedroom window so total exposure to the neighbours and of course daylight from very early in the morning. The manager smoked inside in the bar/breakfast area leaving a horrible smell of cigarette smoke. The towels were well past their use by date.
