1819 Marine Hotel

This place is a little piece of heaven.

Everything wonderful!

Overpriced and very tired hotel. We locked our door with a padlock!

!!DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!! We were supposed to stay for two nights at 1819 Marine Hotel but ended up leaving early in the morning after the first night because of an incident that made us concerned for our safety. The first night we stayed at this hotel, we were already in bed when my sister started banging on our door looking absolutely horrified. Her and her boyfriend had run into the hotel manager on their way to the room. The manager - who was visibly drunk- started making disgustingly sexual comments towards my sister. He also started kissing her on her cheeks and telling her he wants to take her to a room. When her boyfriend tried to tell him to stop, the manager got aggressive and didn’t want to let them leave. All the while, there was another hotel employee who didn’t help them. My sister managed to escape the situation and ran to me and my boyfriend’s room from where we were able to call our Brazilian family to ask for help. My sisters boyfriend however was not able to leave the situation because the manager forcibly held him back. The manager also took away his phone. The situation was only able to be resolved because our family from Brazil talked to the hotel staff and told them to kick out the drunken manager. We obviously did not feel safe and barely slept the night before leaving early the next morning. It was an extremely scary experience and we hope to prevent this from happening to anyone else.

Location is the only positive thing

The hotel is falling apart. It was cheaply built with low quality materials and not maintained. And I am not talking about cleanliness.

Location is quite incredible

Access to the hotel is somehow difficult (not a paved street)... but, hey, we've survived !!!!

Excellent location and amazing view. Unique architecture and design. The manager was really friendly and helpful and made sure we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

The pictures and facilities listed do not match what is actually available at the hotel. The hotel requires serious refurbishment, especially with steel sliding doors that are rusted and stuck.

Some traditional Brazilian dishes like tapioca and fruit jam were good

Cooked food far too salty: eggs and tomatoes difficult to eat because of this. Breakfast staff not too friendly.

The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The location was beautiful and had a great view of the ocean.
