David Thompson Resort

We had great communication from the property in advance, as we expected to arrive outside normal hours. We actually made it in good time and received a lovely warm welcome at Reception, the staff seemed very pleased to meet me and greeted me by name, very professional. There’s no hiding the fact that the accommodation is motel quality, but it offered everything it promised and the room was very clean and very comfortable. Service in the Restaurant was very friendly and welcoming and the food was great and delivered swiftly. The views from the room (and around the Resort) were wonderful. Pinto Lake is a very short ride and the views across the water early in the morning were magnificent.

Like most motels, the windows could use some modesty screening. There seemed to be a few bits of old equipment laying around in some areas which gave these areas an untidy appearance but it was the end of the season so maybe this will be addressed before next year. Service in the Grocery Store was poor - unhelpful and quite rude. This was only one individual, a large, scruffy guy, so maybe we just lucked out. Everyone else we met was charming.

A beautiful drive to the property

Needed assistance checking in and employee was rather ruse. Was given room above laundry room and right where all go up the stairs. Thankfully people were not too loud too late. The beds were made with a flat sheet too small to fit under the mattress. I had to redo my bed throughout the night. Sheets had stains and holes. Pillows were not comfortable and one had stains. Bathroom was OK. Functional.

Restaurant kitchen closes at 18:00. We had a room on the ground floor. The people above us made a lot of noise. And in between there is a wooden floor......

Old furnishings and bedding. Looks like they are trying to update however lots of unfinished details. Could hear guests above us walking around.

Good communication from the reception before arrival and the best shower cabin we have met for years.

The organisation of the restaurant was as taken out of Fawlty Towers.

Room was decent, clean and basic, the bed was comfortable. The bathroom had recently been updated and nice, but unfortunately no hair dryer.

Location was far from other services.. near a beautiful lake but no view. No elevator to 2nd floor rooms, luggage carry up a bit tough. We got there at 6:15 PM and restaurant closes at 6:30, so no dinner available anywhere near. Staff greated me at 6:15 pm and checked us in and closed...thank heavens for the little grocery store...bought decent wine and chocolate. We had some travel snacks that filled in the rest till we could get to Lake Louise for some lunch. I saw a pool in the back of the hotel which was empty and looked like some of the outside needed repair, maybe those are underway? We left at 8:30 am so no breakfast eaten.

Beautiful location

No staff to talk to; facilities were cleaned up a bit but basically 50s style motel full of junk all over the place. Would camp in this beautiful area instead.

Stayed here for one night. Didn’t sleep during the night. Mechanical noices during all the night. Room is due for renovation. Floorpanels that are loose, dead flies near the window …

The location was in a pretty place, though it was still quite a drive from Banff and Jasper.

The toilet broke after the first night. We contacted reception about it and they apparently called maintenance but it was still broken for the rest of our stay. So if you want a hotel with a working toilet, probably don't stay here!! We were also surprised there was literally zero crockery or cutlery. We would have at least expected plastic knives and forks, but there was nothing. The 'shop' only has crisps and a few sodas.
