La Estancia Hotel Boutique

First thing, hats off to Victor, the receptionist. If it hadn't been for him I would not have been able to see as much of the surrounding valleys as I did. It turned out we shared a passion for the outdoors and went hiking three days to different destinations, all without charging me a single penny. Very generous and very much apprectated. The staff were friendly and hospitable, Johnny in particular was great, always smiling and laughing and also very corteous. The place itself is beyond description. Rustic, charming and very beautiful old building. I'm sure it has (friendly) ghosts, too! The breakfast was decent, I only missed fruit. All in all a great stay in a great place with very friendly and welcoming people.

The only thing I missed was a spring coiled mattress for my old and broken back. Even so I slept well. It's a quiet place and I wasn't troubled by any noise at all.

Very well kept very clean

Breakfast was delicious and the staff were all friendly and welcoming. The rooms were very clean and very pleasant.

Breakfast consisted of delightful cafe con leche, a small but tasty fruit cup. I had nicely prepared huevos revueltos con jamon y queso (no cebolla available), and it came with a slice of soft white cheese and a choice of arepa or patacon. I forgot to ask if they had juice. I only asked for water. The ambience of the building is just charming and spotlessly and lovingly maintained. Bathroom had modern fixtures and loads of hot water. Our king bed was huge and comfortable. It was a chilly night but the comforter on the bed did it's job. I thought about stealing it. My partner and I had one of the rooms with the small balcony overlooking the street. Just outside the double door was the hotel's sitting room/library. It was a slow period for Salamina so we were the only guests that I observed that Sunday night, and I opened our room's double doors and treated the sitting room as part of our suite. Centrally located - just a short 1.5 block walk uphill from the church. I don't speak Spanish, but the staff was proficient with Google Translate and in any event very accommodating. I have nothing bad to say about it.

I would have liked parking right in front of the hotel, but apparently it's not allowed on that street. The parquedero a block and a half away on the street behind the church was open 600 am to 1000pm at the time of our visit and overnight was $20,000 COP - about 5$. Not exactly a complaint, just expressing a preference that I didn't investigate before arrival.

Nice colonial hotel with a good atmosphere. Good location near the town square. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Unfortunately one of the three rooms (named Heliconia) we had rented smelled of sewage! We noticed it when going to bed and thought the smell would go away. It didn't. In hindsight we should have asked for another room. Also, there are no parking.
