Hotel Grüner Baum - Hotel im Murgtal, Schwarzwald

Le petit déjeuner. La chambre est propre.

A very nice family run hotel located by the river Murg. Greeted by owner Guiseppe who is also the chef. Room was large and a little cold but OK really. nice bathroom and plenty of hot water. Highlight of the stay was eating in the restaurant - fantastic Italian food cooked by Guiseppe and his family - just brilliant!! Restaurant was quite busy with other guests and locals so a very pleasant evening. Just make sure you leave room for breakfast - warm rolls and jam would have been sufficient but then appeared a plate of cooked meats [salami, chorizo, ham..] cheese, then a mozzarella and tomato salad, scrambled and boiled eggs and finished off by a delightful cream cake!!! Outstanding!

The immediate locale was fine but the Murg valley area is quite industrial compared to the nearby Black Forest areas.

While not as pristine nature as the Hochschwarzwald, the town of Weisendorf & the whole way along the river Murg has interesting views - historic villages, beautiful half-timbered houses, the rushing river & the local industry. Hotel Grüner Baum has not only good views of the river, but lies centrally in town. Breakfast is good, the Italian restaurant is typical South Italian thanks to the owners being from Apulia.

Some black mold in the corners of the room. Possibly due to the proximity to the river & especially the extremely wet spring this year - but also something, which simple cleaning w diluted bleach could easily remove.

Incredibly nice and accommodating people. The lady made us feel truly welcome. And as it is a family business: with such a nice mum, it’s no surprise her sons are equally kind and attentive. There were very good gluten free options for dinner. The breakfast was simply outstanding. We had road side rooms, but at night the traffic calmed down, so it was nice and calm. And the view from the window is exceptional. The rain shower was wonderful.

Nice and cosy family room.

Weak sound proof of the walls and doors make it difficult to sleep before restaurant in ground floor is closed.

Friendly and hospitable staff always with a smile; they made us feel comfortable. The room was clean and the breakfast was tasty with excellent coffee. We also dined at the restaurant of the hotel and we found it delicious with good beer.

There was a problem with the warm water of the shower but the personnel was apologetic and arranged it to get it fixed.

Very nice staff.
