"Lovely staff, great location, menu choices were varied but I think we chose the wrong breakfast. Maybe try the pancakes"

8.0

Location was particularly good, access to beautiful parkland and lake. Close to our destination.

Small bathroom with no shelves to place toiletries, etc, although shower was excellent. Full English breakfast included chipolata sausages and undercooked streaky bacon, sadly cheaper options.

"Pleasant parkland hotel stopover"

8.0

Situated on the grounds of a substantial recreational park, very close to the city and all through routes, but enough out for it not to be a noise or conjestion problem, and hugely better than staying over in a city hotel. Free parking. We received a room upgrade due to a problem with our room. Food was very good. Due to the hotel only having a finite amount of rooms it didn't feel too busy, nor too quiet. It's more of a conference centre with rooms, but if you can get a room then I'd take it over most city hotels, but it depends on what you're looking for. If you'd like more facilities then this isn't the one. But a nice place to rest over, enjoy a meal, and maybe a little morning or evening walk in the grounds, with a historic church 1 minute away. It's a little slice of heaven on the edge of Hell. Being Swindon.

Isn't immediately obvious if you're required to pay to park. I may have missed a sign, but I looked. Reception does note down your license plate however. Initial room was small, but clean. Sadly we had to report a problem. Some of the rooms had recently been refurbished and we found a workman's screwdriver had been left on the sink of the bathroom, and the flush for the toilet was hanging off, with exposed wiring behind, rendering it unusable. On reporting this to Reception it was not even a problem and they efficiently moved us to another room. A clear room upgrade and bigger, which was nice. I'm not sure what would have happened had there been no room available, but quite often there's nearly always a free room for just these problems. It's not necessary to book for dinner as it's an informal bar meal system. Nice food at pretty much the standard rates. For the exclusivity of the site you'd expect it to be pricey, but it was another surprise. Not much seating in the small bar Restuarant. This might prove an issue in busier times. Food and beer was great, service was very good. Front of house was okay, but the presentation of the building could use work and maybe electric doors?

Liked the location. Good value for money.

Not really the hotels fault but people slamming room doors on second night untill 1.15am then again from 5am kept us awake.

"Overall good stay for a night travelling through and reasonable for the price we paid"

7.0

We were travelling to wales from essex and used Lydiard as a stop over en route. Pretty location within the park and whilst basic amenities, it suited our needs and price point was good. Would recommend as a stop over spot and we spent the day after our stay exploring the park before we continued our journey onwards.

The room was only made up for 1 person, only had one towel, 1 cup etc. And there was something that resembled wet tissue paper on the ceiling fixture above the bed

"Good value for money, centrally located."

8.0

Centrally located to where we needed to be.

Room was slightly too small and with the extreme hot weather made it a little uncomfortable.
