Cabañas alto del aguila

The place is beautiful and quiet. So many animals around all the time. We loved playing with the monkeys, the cats and dogs, the guacamayas! They offer tours that are very reasonable in term of price and the guide is very nice. The hosts are very friendly :)

It's a bit rustic.There is a kitchen for the guests to use but it's very dirty and doesn't have a lot of ustensils to cook. We also felt the bungalows need some renovation and cleaning. One thing to have in mind, if you go to the town at night, come back before 9:30 pm because there is a school on the way to the accomodation that let out angry dogs during the night. One girl has been bitten. Overall we had a great time and are super happy with this experience and our hosts.

I have travelled all around the world and this is one of my favorite places i have stayed. There are monkeys, parrots, dogs and turtles. You really feel like you are staying in the jungle. It is a 20 minute walk out of town but it is a beautiful walk. The owners are awesome people too. We loved it here!

Beautiful cabañas located in the middle of nature. They have monkeys and parrots that you can feed and that are very friendly to humans. This makes the experience a 10/10!

Kitchen was sometimes a bit dirty. Don't know if this is the guests fault, or the hostel. Other than that, it was perfect!

Incredible site on a hill surrounded by nature (15-20 mins walk from the center). I was welcomed by one of the 3 local parrots, and there are also monkeys and other animals. There is also a kayak to enjoy the nearby lake. My room was spacious and confortable for the price. Owners are adorable. The infamous aggresive dogs on the way there are a real thing, but only from 9:30 pm to 5 am. I didn't see them.

The shower and toilets are not very clean (I took a shower with a frog). There is also a super annoying automatic light in the garden, which doesn't really fit well with animals being around at night (got woken up several times because of it). The shore could be made nicer: build a wooden dock to avoid mud, clean those pipes lying around, and replace that awful (noisy and ugly) pump with an electric one.

The best location in the amazon for wild life, tranquillity, adventure and pure fun. The 2 hosts Fray and Elena are angelitos 👼👼

I really enjoyed my stay, what I loved most is playing with the monkeys , worth the visit just for that alone.

This little gem of a hostel is 2 km from the pueblo of Puerto Narino. From the beginning, everything detail was given attention to concerning my arrival. Johnathan, a local guide, met me at the dock arriving from Leticia to Puerto Narino. He explained there is a kitchen on site and took me to one of the supermarkets to get supplies. He carried everything for me and then took me by small boat to the property. From the start, Elena and Frailey were wonderful. There are monkeys and macaws there that are friendly and come to you. There was a tiny kitten and dogs on the property. The room of hammocks were very relaxing with a great view of the Amazon river. It was beautiful in every way and very in touch with nature, no loud music or parties to worry about. The cabana had it's own bathroom and the water everyday was heavenly after the steamy jungle tours. There is also a brick path that leads into town and it's only a 20 minute leisurely walk. I did this every night for dinner in the pueblo. I only booked for 2 nights and was going to spend the 3rd night in a different hostel I had booked prior to coming. I enjoyed this so much that I stayed on here one more night. Elena insisted that if I needed to use the WiFi at night (which is Star link and very very good in the common room) that I could come back even if staying at a different location. I cannot stress enough that this place was like a home, with caring people always willing to help out. I miss not being there now and if I return to the Amazon again, which I hope to do, I will definitely stay with them again. You will NOT be disappointed.

El Alto del Aguila is my home in the Amazonas, I have stayed here for 3 times and each for a couple of weeks and it's a little paradise where Fray and Helena just make it feel like home, along with all the beautiful animals and the amazing landscape. It's great to have a kitchen to cook, as food can be expensive in the Amazon, and its great to be able to cook your own meal. Atmosphere is the best and I will keep on visiting them back as I love this place. If you come here, do visit Tarapoto lake, its magical!!!

Such a beautiful retreat outside of Puerto Niño. You are truly surrounded by nature. The monkeys and birds are plentiful. Comfy room with bugnet and typical bathroom. Super friendly and helpful staff. Just a 20 min walk if you don’t take a boat!
