The staff was friendly, and the room was clean.

When the booking was confirmed, I received a message from the hotel, requesting that I transfer 50% of the booking price to the owner, via a Colombian bank account. I messaged the property, asking more details, and they told me not to worry — that I could pay with American Express when I arrived. When I arrived at the hotel, they were telling me that I needed to cancel the reservation at booking.com and pay them directly. I questioned this, especially since booking.com had a no cancellation policy in place for the reservation. They told me that it wouldn’t be a problem and urged me to cancel. I refused to do so and was told that they would speak with the owner and get back to me. Later that night, after not receiving any updates regarding payment, I ended up calling booking.com to report the issue. After 90 minutes, I was told that they would straighten things out with a hotel, and that I could pay in the morning with my credit card. The booking.com representative explained that the hotel was violating the agreement and was clearly trying to avoid paying commission to Booking.com. When it was time to check out, the hotel confirmed that I could pay with my credit card. Their payment platform was an app in a cell phone. There was no credit card machine and the platform they were using only accepted Colombian bank issued credit cards! After wasting 30 minutes trying to check out, I was told that I need to go to a store about six blocks away to pay for my room. They told me to pay by credit card at a store that was owned by the same person who owned the hotel. This was a very uncomfortable situation to say the least. With no other option, I agreed to go with one of the employees to the store to make the payment. I was assured by the employee that I would receive a paid receipt from the hotel. After the transaction was made, there was no paid receipt provided. I had to send messages to the hotel several times, and finally, the next day I received the paid receipt.

The breakfast was delicious. The problem was that my friend and I made the booking on www.booking.com and paid via our credit card. When we got there the lady that worked at the front desk wanted us to cancel our reservation on booking.com and pay 40 Amigos directly. We did not want to do this as we would have incurred a cancellation fee from booking.com Ultimately we had to go to a different location and pay our bill, this was completely uncalled for and ruined the experience at 40 Amigos, therefore I would not recommend this establishment until they get their payment method corrected with booking.com

The lady that was working the front desk made us a lovely breakfast, a waffle with fresh fresh fruit, scrambled eggs and very nice coffee. She was sorry for the unfortunate payment experience that we had to deal with, she explained that she was just an employee. The rooms are small, the bathroom is clean and adequate. The fan in the room is noisy so I would recommend that you bring earplugs with you. 40 Amigos location is excellent a short walk to town.

Very very nice and friendly staff, super clean, AMAZING showers, nice breakfast.

We booked this place to stay away from the main square so we wouldn’t be woken up by the church bells. However, there’s a school next to the hotel that starts playing/singing the school’s anthem at 6.30/7 in the morning so we still woke up really early which was rather annoying.

The room was clean, shower was great (when the hot water worked) and the breakfast was good.

The room was extremely small for 2 people and didn’t have room to unpack our things.

The hotel was clean and the breakfasts were good. It was located about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the main plaza in Jardin, in a quiet part of the town. It is a cute place.

The hotel is more like a hostel than a "4 star hotel". It was very bare-bones, with not much in the way of services and amenities. The room was the smallest room I have ever stayed in. There was a double bed pushed up against the wall, a night table, and a stand-alone closet with a great big TV perched on top of it. There was nowhere to sit and nowhere to put your luggage. Two people could not pass without bumping into each other. I had changed my reservation from a regular room to a larger room after reading several reviews about the size of the room, but the room we got was still tiny. There were no windows to the outside. One window faced a shaft and the sounds carried, although it was quiet through the night.
