Finca Los Caballos Montezuma

This is own by locals and it is well adapted in the nature

It lacks of privacy if the hotel is full

Paradise on earth! Irene, the manager was extremly helpful and did not hasitate to help us with bus tickets and offered free laundry as well! The Los Caballos is located a bit outside of the busy Montezuma. There is no traffic noise audible, and believe it or not, they have perfect road signs leading you to the place which is quite unusual in Costa Rica. After staying in Montezuma several times I would highly recommend this lovely place!

Location and surroundings were beautiful

Big number of cockroaches in our room. We let the front desk know, and they did absolutely NOTHING. So we had to spend two nights with cockroaches running around our walls and ceiling. Moreover, nobody was present at the front desk at anytime, the only way to contact the property was sending a Whatsapp message that they would reply within several hours. Restrooms needed s deep cleaning and the hotel is severely understaffed. Very bad experience.

The price was great. The reception lady was very kind and helpful.

The room really showed its age.

We felt very welcomed when we arrived at the finca. We stayed for one week and were upgraded to a superior room with a beautiful view for our stay. Receptionist was very friendly and helpful. Cleaning staff came every day. The sunrises were beautiful. Breakfast was great and the pool view was beautiful.

The area with animals seems to be in transition. A few pieces of furniture were needing to be updated/replaced.

Beautiful setting with an ocean view amidst the jungle. Staff were very friendly, and the included breakfast was quite tasty. Unfortunately that is where the positives end...

Where do I start? The rooms are in DIRE need of a deep cleaning, to the point where we felt like we might get sick from black mold if we stayed longer than our two nights. Mold covered the walls, lamp shades, fan, inside of the fridge, shower, coffee machine, etc. The shower mat and bath towels in our room were stained, the toilet didn't look like it had been cleaned, and the hand towel had several hairs on it as though it hadn't been changed. There was no hot water, and the beds were extremely uncomfortable with zero support whatsoever. We had tons of ants in the room, spiders all over the ceiling, and large cricket, cockroach, and beetle visitors. The location is not a walkable distance from the beach or the small downtown strip, so would definitely say that a vehicle is needed. There was a safe in the room, but no lock on it so it was essentially useless. We ate dinner at the on-site restaurant one night, and my chicken had an inedible rubbery texture as though it were cooked straight from frozen. Many of the advertised amenities were unusable - the trails were heavily overgrown, the pool table and fooseball tables were covered in bugs and debris, and the pool deck was beginning to rot. Overall, the rooms were filthy, and I couldn't wait to check out.
