Is it possible to find a cuter town that Cesky Krumlov? I think not! It's hard to get to Hotel Mlyn, as it is for most hotels in this town because much of the center of the village doesn't allow cars between 10-4, and at other times has very strict guidelines for driving in the city (including a parking pass requirement). That said, once our driver figured out how to get us to the hotel--a feat that required carrying our suitcases down a succession of very steep stairs in unseasonably hot weather (can you say heat dome?), we arrived at the Mlyn, a very well appointed, very plain but clean hotel at one edge of the village in Cesky Krumlov. Like with other hotel and restaurant experiences during out central Europe jaunt, the front desk folks were somewhat cold, had no interest in customer service, but did run us through our paces with efficiency if an indifferent attitude. The breakfast area here is quite nice, reminiscent of something you might find in a Swiss ski town. Tile floors, little tables all neatly turned out, and fine breakfast offerings (nothing extraordinary, but good variety). The room was charming with a little bay window looking out at the river. On first arriving to the room, I had the lovely surprise of getting to see a small tow headed child running over the rocks in the river, enjoying the cool of the rushing water. Lovely sight. Our room was sufficient, but had carpet (yuck!), and no shower--just a tiny bath that I could fit in but my bigger husband could not. it was a slightly dingy room with a somewhat odd odor--old people home comes to mind? I didn't like the room itself much, but I did like the location of the hotel, the breakfast room, and I don't think Cesky Krumlov could be any sweeter of a place to visit in the Czech Republic!

Hotel praktisch nur zu Fuß erreichbar und das mit Koffer über Kopfsteinpflaster. Es gibt zwar einen kleinen Parkplatz, aber der ist nur von 20.00 bis 11.00 Uhr erreichbar...
