I have stayed in Barmouth several times with my autistic child. Unfortunately, this hotel did not meet our expectations. The only positive aspect of our stay was the comfort of the bed.

From arrival, the service was unacceptable. The initial greeting from staff was unprofessional, and there was clear inconsistency regarding check-in times despite prior confirmation via Booking.com. We were instructed when we arrived at noon to return at 2:00 pm; however, upon doing so, the room was still not ready. This lack of organisation caused avoidable distress for my autistic child.There was a continued lack of basic communication. No instructions were provided regarding the use of keys, which resulted in confusion and the risk of damaging the door lock. Checkout procedures were also not explained; we were left to leave the key unattended at the bar and exit via a back door, as the main entrance was locked. Standards of cleanliness and maintenance were poor. Carpets were visibly dirty, electrical extension leads were placed unsafely around the beds, and a kettle was positioned directly beneath the television, presenting a potential hazard. Windows in the room did not open. Additionally, I observed cups being washed in bathroom sinks rather than being properly cleaned in a kitchen setting. Breakfast provision was below an acceptable standard. The bar and restaurant areas contained a significant number of flies, and the seating was worn, stained, and in need of replacement. The only positive aspect of our stay was the comfort of the bed. Overall, the experience was disappointing and did not meet reasonable expectations for hygiene, safety, or customer service
