The evening meal was more than I expected, in quantity and the steak pie was the best I'd ever tasted.

Normally at home I have a lightweight duvet. The duvet in my room was rather heavy so not what I was used to.

"suited our needs, nice blend of hotel and pub, but wouldn't stay again"

being a hotel but with an adjoining pub there was an interesting vibe; a mix of tourists and locals. This made the bar area a 'lively' place to be (especially considering it was a Wednesday evening). However, for those who fancied a quieter time the hotel part also had it's own dinning room and rest area. There was a good menu and the food was well prepared. The room was clean and presentable. There was plenty of parking on-site but this quickly filled with pub attenders, if you are staying get there early.

the room was very small, the bathroom minute - it was not possible to stretch out a bath mat! Consequently, the sink was of a size found in cloakrooms which is not ideal for wet shaving. There were only two wall sockets, one of which was full with an adapter plug. With so many devices requiring charging it was necessary to juggle what was plugged in at any time. The chap behind the bar was fine, but the two young staff serving need to develop their social skills; they knew the script and actions but delivered it in such a cold, casual and dismissive manner it actually became hilarious - not as extreme, but likened to Faulty Towers.

The staff was so friendly and kind. Was able to watch the match in the pub and the breakfast was excellent. They even did a wash for us.
