Haughton Arms Hotel

Great location, staff very helpful and friendly. Food was very good and restaurant comfortable and nicely decorated. Great breakfast to set you up for exploring village. Lovely bar with lots of friendly locals and seating out in the garden for good weather. Parking very good and loads of spaces.

If you plan to stay here be aware that the bar gets very lively, music, lots of merry folk but bar closes at half 12 when the music also stops. If you get room above bar, which we did, it's unlikely you will get any sleep til then. Doors banging, bass thumping and people talking loudly outside windows. Smell of smoke too as this wafts up through window. Closing window only cuts this down a bit. Bathroom needs updating and room bit tired.

Room directly above bar with very loud music. Was not warned of this before booking - yet I now know they have had many complaints. Told music would go off at midnight, as if that was perfectly ok. It actually went off at 12.40 a.m. - imposible to sleep till then. Most people in bar only seemed able to shout, perhaps because of how much they had been drinking! At 8.15 in morning a member of staff unlocked and opened my door while I was still in bed. Saturday morning and told last breakfast was at 9.00. Utterly appalling.

Tasty evening meal and a very good breakfast. Friendly, helpful, cheerful staff.

Some good quality coffee would be appreciated at breakfast.

The location was just right in the middle of the village. Attractive beer garden.

The tea tray wasn’t topped up for the second night.

Very comfortable room, had a great nights sleep. Breakfast was included in the price and was excellent. We had dinner in the hotel too as there's not a lot of choice in Alford on a Tuesday night. Having said that, the food was great. Best steak I've had in a very long time.

There was a little bit of noise from the bar in our room - but after the bar shut, it was very quiet so not a problem. The Rotary Club were meeting in the restaurant so we had to eat in the bar - its the same menu so that wasn't a problem, though we did move table as there was a large pool table in the middle of the bar, which was very popular.
