Hotel Angerer is a splendid establishment in excellent condition and conveniently located to the military base at Vilseck. Both ladies on staff were friendly, helpful, and seemed more like my favorite aunts than reception desk staff. The rooms were immaculate and recently remodeled. Unlike some other facilities around the rural German/Czech border, basic necessities were provided. Breakfast was a combination of typical European breads, meats, cheeses, yoghurt and cereals as well as eggs cooked to order. And it is an easy walk to restaurants, with a good choice of alternatives for a small town.

The lift was out of order but being repaired--it should be up and running. But even then, I liked going up the stairway, as it was rather charming in appearance. I also would have loved to see a multilingual description of the building's history--we got a brief recap from one of the ladies, and when you have about 500 years of history, you really should talk a bit about it!

The room we had was recently renovated and had a modern look. Really nice and roomy.

Hallway is still under construction. Elevator didn't work and room was all the way on the top floor. Lots of stairs to carry our luggage.
