Too much noice from road

If you are tired of standard rooms with laminated floors and canned food, and are looking for family atmosphere in a cosy place, then this hotel is for you. Do not miss a chance to have a great cup of coffee and a delicious cheese plate for your breakfast. GOLD Restaurant is just round the corner but it is so popular among locals that you have to wait for a table if you are not alone. Shops are also near, and tram stop is a few mins walk.

Our one night stay was very nice. We came in late and were lucky that the owner of the hotel was available since she normally does not work after noon. We did not make a reservation but could get a double room never the less. The room was cosy and clean, the curtains could not be closed but that was made up by the shutters that could be closed all the way. No elevator (no problem since the rooms are on the second floor or first floor depending where you come from) and no air conditioning, which we did not see as a minus. The owner of the hotel was very friendly and helpful. There is no kitchen of which the owner informed us immidiately. She pointed out some restaurants in the neighborhood. The breakfast was good. There was good choice and plenty of every thing.

I stayed there for 6 days. It is an old house refurbished for hotel and there are very few rooms. I stayed in Room 16 which is on 2nd floor. Since it is part of an old building, there is no lift. The single room was comfortable for stay. It is a family run small place son don't expect professional service. They never changed my linen and house keeping was not that good. Location is very good. The city center is 5-10 mins walk from the hotel. Very friendly and helpful staffs. The WiFi signal inside room was bad, but it was excellent in hallway : / Breakfast was good and there were several options for breakfast.

My boyfriend and I were travelling through Europe and made a last minute decision to stop in Karlsruhe to check out a musician we knew from home. We drove into town with no reservation, just a hope and a dream we would be able to find a place to rest our heads for the night. We found this charming hotel, very close to the venue we were attending in the evening. We were pleased to find they had room for us, at a very good price as well. We were very impressed with the friendly nature of the family who runs the hotel, and were very happy with the comfort of the room. The bed was really nice and actually contrary to the other previous posts, the water pressure in our room was fantastic. The wifi was strong and we were happy with the choices for breakfast. All in all we had a great time and we even made a new friend in Max. Thank you Markgrafler Hof hotel for giving us more than just a place to rest our heads for a night in our European journey!

Beautiful hotel owned by the owners family for generations (great grandfather I believe). Would have loved to know a bit more about the history of the building. We stayed in room 7 (if I'm not mistaken) and it was very spacious. In previous review, I do have to agree that the water pressure of the shower wasn't the greatest, but we made do of it. It was fairly close to the city center ( walked it once), but if you're not into walking, there are plenty of street cars available. Breakfast was excellent.

The major upside of this hotel in my opinion is that it is not a big chain hotel but is rather a charming renovated old building with local touch. I stayed there one night, the double room was quite spacious and clean. The only complaint I have was that water pressure in the shower, which was about as low as it gets in the morning. In fact, it was so low that holding the shower head at a 90° degree angle the water would maybe go 30cm before dropping vertically. Breakfast was good but not great by german standards, in particular they were only very slowly restocking sausage and ham that morning. Otherwise, there was free wifi but I didn't have time to try it. The location of the Hotel is quite good, and it is (very) close to the University. Overall this seems like a pretty good option.
