Das Schloss ist idyllisch gelegen und hat seinen Charme. Tolle Lage für Unternehmungen in der Gegend.

Aufgrund der alten Bauweise ist das Gebäude sehr hellhörig, was an für sich auch zu erwarten ist und in Ordnung ist. Allerdings gastieren auch größere Gruppen und es werden nachts lautstark private Partys in den Zimmern gefeiert. Hier sollte es eine klare Regelung/Hausordnung geben.

We both loved the setting - we have a soft spot for older buildings anyway, so getting to stay in a little castle was the main reason for choosing Schloss Walbeck. A five-minute drive brought us into the centre of the village where we found several restaurant options. Breakfast at the hotel offered plenty of (tasty) options. We arrived a little later, but were warmly welcomed by a very friendly and cheerful member of the staff. Easy and free on-site parking. They organise events and activities, however, so that may not always be the case.

You can expect creaky floorboards in an old building, so that is what it is. The walls between rooms, however, at times seemed to be made of wafer thin material. We had very jolly neighbours who talked non-stop in the evening - loud enough to understand at least half - and once our alarm went the next morning, they were the first thing we heard, having seemingly never stopped talking. Luck of the draw. We had very differing opinions about the bed - my wife was perfectly fine with it, for me it was too short (I am tall at nearly two metres, however) and I found the mattress to be very uncomfortable for my back. The Wi-Fi was fine, but the television wasn't connected to it, so no streaming options. The bathroom was functional; it offered lovely views over the fields, but was definitely dated and simple, The air extractor kept going for nearly 45 minutes after a shower which seemed... long.
