The weather some of the time but overall it was pleasant enough to get in a reasonable walk each day.

A lovey country hotel, beautiful location, comfortable, good size, room. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We only stayed one night and wish we were there for longer.

Mealtimes were excellent, seated promptly. Would be easy for the hotel to rest on their laurels as there isn't exactly a lot of other options in the area! Both evenings I dined in the restaurant however the quality of menu and the specials was excellent. Nice touch adding the mapped locations of their suppliers too; felt like a local institution. Room was excellent and v cosy especially after long days walking across windy moors. Bathroom was nicely modernised. Gardens look lovely and if weather had been nicer would have been good to sit outside in the sun with a pint.

View from the room was a bit unfortunate but that's luck of the draw. Usual drawbacks from staying in an old coaching inn dating from 1792 - think creaky floorboards etc. but I think that is a significant part of the hotel's charms.

Es handelt sich um ein tolles Hotel im alten englischen Stil. Die Lage mitten im Dartmoor ist einmalig, besser kann man im Dartmoor nicht übernachten. Das Personal ist sehr hilfsbereit, Frühstück und Abendessen sind hervorragend. Die Essensportionen am Abend könnten etwas größer sein. Die Zimmer sind im alten Stil gehalten, aber sauber und in Ordnung. Parkplätze sind ausreichend vorhanden, das WLAN ist gut.

Es wäre schön gewesen, wenn man früher als 08.00 Uhr hätte frühstücken können.
