The New Swan Hotel

Great location. Super friendly staff and patrons. Everyone’s very kind and accommodating. Lovely breakfasts, I was out during the day to comment on daytime feeding but there is plenty to choose from for evening meals. Nice beers on tap. MUCH cheaper for a beer at the Swan than anywhere else in town. Loads of TVs for sports and huge outside seating area. Also for motorcyclists there is a secure area around the back to store you bike.

I had forgotten the hotel doesn’t serve food in the evening, but then there are 4 places to eat within 5 min walk of the Swan and they’re very happy for you to bring in a take away if you so choose. There’s nothing not to like.

No wifi in room poor phone signal shower struggled to cool down too hot

I was in the block of rooms next to the pub (room 15) for 6 nights. The shower was better than my one at home, the bed was very comfy. Staff were great, very friendly especially the cleaner who welcomed me every morning with very cheery ‘Morning’ and massive smile. She made my day. The weather was glorious and I loved taking my morning coffee next the babbling stream in the quiet early morning fresh air. Heaven! Also, very close to a Tesco (5 min walk) which was very handy.

No evening meals at the pub was the only disappointment

Room and staff were superb.

Car parking was very difficult.. arrived around seven and couldn’t park had to part the car on the street and move it at around 11.

Swearing, shouting abusive threatening behaviour until 11.45 and that was just the women outside our deluxe room so if that is your idea of a great evening then you are in for a traet and I fully recommend The New Swan. Having stayed here with friends a number of times now Ystelfera is a lovely place to stay with a number of places to eat and even a supermarket on the doorstep, however sadly we will not be recommending the place or revisiting again. Not sure if it is under new management as the owner was always around before and up for a chat in the evening so maybe now it is under new management.

We booked "as I often do" through Booking.com and despite the price shown on my booking form I was charged more, I spoke to the lady at reception were this matter could have been cleared up in less than a minute but she insisted the extra price charged was somehow correct for a DELUXE ROOM, I later emailed the hotel and received a short message from Gareth Shell who suggested I take the matter up regards any genius discounts with Booking.com as they should honour the 10% Genius discount offered from them, the error was not the fault of Booking.com but with the Hotel. Not sure why the room was classed as DELUXE maybe having the noisy street view or the late night entertainment foul language under the window of deluxe rooms of 3, 4 and 5 or because it had a microwave. It is very sad that my review comes up as a 6/10 as I normally leave 10/10 when leaving feedback. Obviously Gareth is not bothered and if he is the owner then I guess that is up to him.

Location to the motorbike course

The staff was so lovely and accommodating. They accommodated our late check in perfectly. The facilities were fabulous. Very decent sized rooms and bathrooms, lovely mountain views. Very reasonably priced.

There was free Wi-Fi, however, the connection was terrible. It kept connecting and disconnecting and so on every 10 minutes.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable room. Outside picnic area. Modern room and sanitary. Excellent value for money. Excellent Indian restaurant at walking distance (Tiffin). An on-site pub with a great collection of drinks (no food, though).

Nothing worth mentioning.
