We have stayed here before. Nice friendly straightforward hotel in a lovely wee village. Food in the restaurant was excellent and good value. We had the included buffet breakfast, which suited us, but a cooked breakfast was extra.

Our bed was probably past its best.

The owners (Lorraine and Dave) were great hosts. They were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

Nothing not to like.

La posizione dell'albergo è meravigliosa. Dalla finestra della nostra camera si vedeva il tramonto sul mare ed è stato magico. Anche la struttura in sé ha il suo fascino, sembra di dormire in una dimora storica. Ottimo che l'albego abbia anche un proprio pub al piano terra in cui abbiamo cenato e abbiamo mangiato molto bene. Lo staff è gentile e disponibile.

La pulizia e la colazione sono da migliorare. La camera era molto polverosa, noi dovevamo rimanere solo una notte e siamo persone adattabili, ma per qualcuno più suscettibile può essere di disturbo. Inoltre c'è la moquette in tutto l'albergo, il che porta inevitabilmente ad una scarsa igiene. Anche la colazione non ha soddisfatto le nostre aspettative. In fase di prenotazione viene specificato che la colazione è inclusa, ma non viene detto che è inclusa solo quella presente al buffet, perché se si vuole bacon&eggs come gli altri ospiti dell'albergo bisogna pagare una maggiorazione. Il che mi starebbe anche bene se il buffet fosse accettabile, ma noi siamo scesi alle 8:20 (la colazione iniziava alle 8) e già c'era rimasto poco e niente. Nessuna marmellata, pezzo dolce o salato. Solo delle fette di pane da tostare e mangiare con il burro e degli yogurt. Se si vuole offrire una colazione continentale, bisogna farlo bene.

A warm welcome from the owners and our room was beautifully decorated and furnished. We have stayed at this hotel before and the location is perfect for exploring this lovely coastline. Breakfast is either a continental or cooked choice - there is a large range of items to choose from with lots of fresh fruit, delicious.

Nothing to dislike.

In our 4 weeks of touring around Scotland, this was our favourite place to stay. The owners are wonderful and so accommodating, the food is great and it's a lovely place to have a drink at the bar and meet the locals. Plenty to see and do around the area if you enjoy the charm of a small coastal town - the walk from Portknockie to Cullen is a real treat on a nice day. Beautiful view out the window too!
