The house is stunning, beautifully restored, designed and with incredible attention to detail. Delicious food and wine, excellent service. And amazing acres of grounds. A very special place

Location, landscape, greenery

Rather tepid welcome considering we are regularly returning customers. The cooking standard at the Artisan, the more casual restaurant in the hotel, has changed, sadly, to mediocrity. Trying too hard to be modern (then becomes irrelevant) rather than simply farm to table using the hotel’s own onsite herbal gardens and greenhouse produces in abundance.

The staff at The Grove are wonderful, it has just the right mix of charm, elegance and helpful service without tipping over into obsequiousness. Everyone seemed interested in making sure your stay was memorable. I had a puncture on my car when I arrived and was squaring up to change the tyre when a member of staff stopped and insisted on sorting things out. I had a new tyre on the car within an hour. Perfect, on with the holiday break. We stayed in a cottage looking on to the garden. It was lovely. All in all an exceptional restful pre-Christmas break! Relaxing with a cocktail in one of it's many rooms was perfect as wandering around the beautiful grounds. The breakfast and dinners were delightful, too.

The door from our cottage into the garden couldn't be opened. I am sure there would have been a solution but we didn't find it. Perhaps leave some instructions for this.
