"Nice location, but small and quite expensive."

6.0

The hotel is a historical building located in the very centre of the city. The room is small, but central. The breakfast included is a selection of pastries and toast.

The hotel room is very small, ok for sleeping, but not much else. There is a pub next door. The pub is not a nuisance, but we had people staying adjacent to us who returned home drunk and were banging and crashing almost all night. Not the hotel's fault, but worth considering. The room had an electric shower. It was good for one person's shower, and then it was stone cold, so the second person could not shower. The room has a mini fridge, but you will need to turn this off as it is noisy and right next to the bed. The included breakfast of pastries and toast was nice, but the optional cooked breakfast was very expensive, almost £20 per person. The room was a little disappointing for the price point, but then location often trumps every other benefit.

"Amazingly characterful place right in the historic centre."

Friendly staff, wonderful quirky old room. The whole place is full of character, but also warm and quiet. Good continental breakfast. Also central location.

Steep stairs.

Great location in the heart of the colleges and quirky 17th century buildings. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Expensive for one night and a meagre continental breakfast. Very hot radiators in bedrooms too which took a long time to cool down. Menopausel people beware!

"Chambre désuète dans un cadre historique."

7.0

L’historique de l’établissement et la localisation parfaite.

La propreté des chambres était moyenne et la literie ancienne.

"Exceptional"

9.0

The hotel is super cute, in a quaint, old-fashioned building with little winding stairs. The bedroom we had was very small, but it was fine for us, the bathroom was nice and the view over the Turf Tavern was good for us. The old windows have more modern double glazing so we didn't have an issue with noise. The staff were super friendly and helpful.

The breakfast was nice and we appreciated the little glass jars for jam and honey, but it was very bread-heavy. It would be quickly improved by providing fruit and yogurt in addition, or something like this.

"Great Location and Pleasant Staff."

7.0

Best feature of the hotel is its “bang in the centre” of Oxford. Staff very pleasant, rooms very basic but it is a period hotel and they have done the best with the asset they have available. Breakfast good and again the breakfast staff were very pleasant as were the front counter staff. For the less abled - and I’m getting there - it can be a little treacherous getting down the cobbled stoned lane to the entrance. But that is part of the charm of Oxford. I would recommend the hotel for location and ease of getting around the city.
