Grand Opera Hotel

Staff non sempre attento ad aiutare con le valigie. Assenza di parcheggio dell'hotel.

Good location, nicely decorated rooms.

Where do I begin? We booked a Junior Suite and specifically requested a quiet room. Unfortunately, we were placed directly beneath a noisy bar that operates until midnight. The next day, we requested a room change, but the receptionist falsely claimed that the noise from the bar was an exceptional occurrence and assured us that it would close at 10 PM that night. Obviosly, that did not happen. All our calls to the reception went unanswered, and my partner had to go to the bar at night to ask them to stop moving chairs and making noise. The following day, we lodged another complaint, and instead of receiving an apology, we were asked to pay for a room upgrade, which we declined. Eventually, we were offered another room, which was indeed nice, but it had poor window insulation and faced a very noisy street. For those unfamiliar with Kutaisi, the traffic noise is comparable to that of India. Overall, our experience was very disappointing and soured our impression of the city. We hope to never return! P.S. The breakfast room is located in the basement. Although this is unfortunately a common practice in some post-Soviet countries, it has nothing to do with the term "Grand" Hotel. I wonder if the person who labeled it as "Grand" has ever stayed in a grand hotel in a decent country. P.P.S. Opera is actually closed.
