DEQuite nice and central location. It's about 15 minutes by feed to reach the ferry. An Indomaret is around the corner. The owner was very helpful and supporting by figuring out things. There is a small cooking spot and drinking water is provided. The view from the balcony to Lake Toba is amazing.
Some simple improvement for the rooms, such as hooks on the wall or a chair to put things would make life easier. The cooking area is quite poorly equipped, e.g. some more forks and knives would be great. There was no toilette paper, at least for the "beginning" this would be an improvement. The towels provided were too tiny to be used for the shower. Last to mention: There is a school across the street. I don't mind the noise of children at all, but Indonesian schools seem to operate differently: The first day we woke up at 6.30am, because of loud music and loudspeaker announcements made over there. We then used earplugs the days after.

DEBooking was lastminute as we missed the ferry to Tuk-Tuk. Owner is friendly but should decline booking if the rooms are not made up.
Bathroom was grimey. The toilet seems like it hadn't been cleaned in a very long time, there was long black hair on the toilet seat. Bed is completely worn out, almost impossible to sleep in it. Linen felt dirty. Towels were a joke - they were literally the size of my face. Haven't had such a bad experience in all over SEA. Don't stay there.
SGSon of owner who greeted us, was very, very rude and arrogant. The owner is however friendly. Traffic noise in-front of the homestay that is very loud until about midnight. We stayed at the front room - maybe it is better in other rooms.
PLVery nice place in Parapat. Host is very kind and helpful. Room was clean and really comfortable.

There were a lot of dead flies on the floor. The school on the opposite side of the street played very loud music from 6 am onwards (it was saturday, so maybe it is ok on other days) (and my room was the closest to the street, other rooms may be OK for sound)

Unfortunately the appartment had open windows that you can not close by design. Since it's located at the main street it was very loud
