Nice comfortable room with a balcony, tea making facilities and even hot water in the bathroom. The staff were very helpful

Perfect location probably less than a 5 minute walk the beach. Anoop was extremely welcoming from the moment we arrived and helpful until the moment we left. Hot water worked great so perfect to wash off after a swim in the sea.

We stayed 2 nights and felt very much at home! The staff (Anoop) was very friendly, attentive and always there. The place itself is located very near the cliff and Varkala beach. It is a quiet area and provided space for our two motorcycles. Our room was fantastic, size was good, very clean! They provided us with their own water (filtered and cleaned). We think this is very ecological. The interior of Gypsy Walker is very nice with beautiful wall paintings. We would definitely come back and can warmly recommend the Gypsy Walker.

Mixed bag for me because although the hotel is very pretty inside and well located and initial reception was professional and helpful, I had a weird experience having apparently booked a non AC which was not noted in room title as is often the norm, so when I said at 9pm at night I couldn’t find the AC remote because room was stuffy and needed to cool down (actual AC unit was in room) I was told if I wanted the remote I’d need to pay another 1000 rupee (more than 30% of whole room cost). I was not happy and said it was ridiculous to charge that much to use AC for a few hours and went to bed in a hot room. In the morning I went to yoga early but messaged after class to say I’d be back to pay in a few hrs for my second night basically because I couldn’t be bothered moving (first hotel in India I’ve stayed at to want payment in advance) which I had said I wanted when I checked in. I then received a message at 10.40am telling me I had to be out by 11am. Suddenly my room was apparently booked! Can’t think why! I found a lovely family run hotel closer to the beach with AC and a Seaview balcony for less.

The different grade of room is actually the same room. Only difference is whether you are allowed remote or not! If someone says on arrival they want to stay an additional night they should obviously be told if they can’t there and then not given 20mins notice to pack up the next morning. I gave them a decent rating because of location and how it was renovated.

Staff was very friendly and the wall paintings were beautiful. Exceptional location, just 2 minutes walk to the cliff.

Comfy room, many amenities, nice hot shower, free drinking water available, good location, mostly quiet, very friendly staff.

Roof terrace was nice, but could use some more relaxing furniture.
